Itโs ridiculous.
$3800 to $1M in 30 years with no additional contributions.
I sound like Bernie Sanders Maddoff.
In fact, every time I post about it on eToro, thereโs always a few mouth breathers that need to chime in.

Thatโs why I am comfortable holding 98% of my net worth in crypto.
To me, itโs painfully obvious what is happening.
A new asset class is being created before our eyes.
An asset class that MASSIVELY outperforms everything else 3 out of every 4 years with an annualised return of 124%.
Armed with that knowledge, achieving a 20% annualised return is completely plausible.
Especially if the most vanilla crypto strategy (buy and hold $BTC) is returning 124% annualised.
Even if we reduce that by 4x thatโs over 30% annualised returns.
Enough about that.
Turning a $3800 eToro portfolio into $1M in 30 years with no additional contributions has gone out the window!
I gave in and added more capital to my portfolio - not by choice!
As many of you pointed out, I was blocked from being copied on eToro.
One of the criteria for moving up Popular Investor (PI) tiers in order to allow more people to copy me is having more money on the line.
Elite PI status requires $25K USD.
I added more capital to satisfy the criteria.
Another criteria I have to meet is educational requirements.
Regardless of other qualifications, eToro requires all PIs to attain a Cert 4 in International Advanced Wealth Management from the Chartered Institute of Securities Investment in London.
Iโve sat one exam already and am due to sit my final exam in a couple of months.
So, with that said, how the f*** is the portfolio doing!
To recap:
โก๏ธI started with $3800 on 1 January 2021
โก๏ธI had $10,313 on 12 December 2023 with no additional contributions (~40% annualised return)
โก๏ธI added $19,947 on 12 December 2023
โก๏ธThis brought my portfolio value to $29,480 on 13 December 2023.
โก๏ธAfter a monster 1.5 months, the portfolio is at $34,190 as of 29 January 2024.
So, whatโs the new goal?
The goal is still $1M.
But 30 years is too easy with the additional capital.
Iโm making the goal 21 years.
With that said, letโs have a look at where weโre at.
As of the end of January 2024, I am 15 months ahead of my target portfolio value.
Going over the long-term outlook:
โก๏ธ Since I started on eToro and given a target return of 20% I should hit $1M in ~21 years (blue line)
โก๏ธ Given the current portfolio value and a target return of 20%, I should hit $1M in ~20 years. (red line)
โก๏ธ Given the current portfolio value and my actual return of 40% annualised, my portfolio should hit $1M in ~11 years (purple line)
To be completely fair, we probably have one or two good crypto cycles left, including the one weโre in.
After that, I think 20% seems like a reasonable annual target.
If I had to guess, Iโd say my eToro portfolio would hit $1M in ~15 years or somewhere between the red and purple line.
That would be an astronomical achievement, given most money managers can barely beat the S&P 500 index.
Letโs see how we go.
